4 ways to take screenshots in Windows 8 without installing third-party tools

Posted on

Take screenshots of our devices is something that many practice constantly. From educational purposes to show others how it looks, or how to do something on their computers, to more frivolous uses like taking screenshots of conversations and fun things to see on the Internet, or happen at our desk and want to share with others.
Even, sometimes the only way we can save an image we see on the Internet, is to take one screenshot .
There are plenty of third party tools that allow us to take screenshots, edit them and upload them to the network. But few know certain features of Windows, especially Windows 8 and 8.1 , which are pre-set and allow us to do this work without installing anything extra in our equipment.

  • Snipping Tool

There is an extremely useful tool that comes installed on Windows by default and that is very little known and used by the users: the tool cuts or Snipping Tool .

The cut is fantastic tool to take desktop screenshots and edit them. To run it just go to the home screen of Windows 8 and type "cuts".

In a very simple program, but effective. To take a screenshot simply click again and select the area you want to appear in the cut. You can make a cut in free form, rectangular, select a window or full screen capture.

The editing options are few, but more than enough for the average user: you can highlight text, write notes with a stylus, save the screenshot, and email it.

  • Paint + Print Screen

A classic choice for any user since the dawn of Windows , is to press the Print Screen (Print Screen) or Prt Scn on the keyboard. This key combination will take a snapshot of our entire desktop and save it to the clipboard. If we open the good and faithful Paint , you can press Ctrl + V and paste the screenshot into the application to save or edit.

  • Windows key + Print Screen

In Windows 8, and 8.1 if we press the Windows key along with the key Print Screen will take a screenshot of the entire desktop and it is automatically saved in the folder: C: \ Users \ User \ Pictures \ Screenshots

  • Alt + Print Screen

Finally, this keyboard shortcut allows you to take a screenshot of the active window and copy it to the clipboard. Again, we can open Paint and paste for further editing.
